What
The system prompt, the standing instructions Claude Code gives the model, has updated guidance about building games. Claude may now build:
original games
games in a genre or with similar mechanics to an existing game
games from your own designs and assets
It still will not recreate a specific existing game, even if renamed or called original. The instructions now spell out what that covers: the game's name, characters, art, music, levels or look. The same wording is used when Claude summarises a long conversation, sets up a project, and runs a security review.
Why
Asking for a game that plays like one you know is now clearly allowed. Asking Claude to copy a game's characters, art, music, levels or appearance will be declined.
