Unclear What the take-back step does in each case when you press Esc in remote mode is not shown.
What
In remote mode, where the session runs on another machine, cancelling with Esc now runs a take-back step before the interruption. That step can restore drafts you had typed.
Rewinding the conversation now keeps several drafts and puts them back into the prompt together. A question from Claude that is still waiting for your answer now also stops a particular automatic compaction from running while the session is idle. Compaction is when Claude Code summarises the conversation to save space.
Why
This changes what Esc does after a cancel in remote mode.
