What
When images arrive from a connected chat as attachments, Claude Code keeps copies on your computer. New handling covers what happens when such an attachment is deleted:
- Attachments listed in
removed_chat_filesare deleted from local disk if their content still matches. - A second pass handles uploads stored in place in a staging area.
- New instructions tell Claude that an image was deleted or hidden and that it must not recover any saved copy.
- The list of withdrawn files (
withdrawnFileUuids) can now also carryhide_pictures_with_no_file_id_before, a date. Pictures sent without a file id from before that time can be hidden. It defaults to 0.
The deletion handling sits behind two server-controlled switches, tengu_cozy_hamming and tengu_mossy_kepler. Nothing has been read about either.
Why
Deleting an image in the chat can now also remove the copy on disk and stop Claude from referring to it.
