When Claude Code cannot connect to a gateway, it now picks a hint based on the error. A gateway here is a server your organization runs between you and the service.
Certificate errors: the message reads "Could not verify the gateway's TLS certificate. Check your connection, and join your organization's network if the gateway needs it." A TLS certificate is what proves a server is who it says it is.
Other errors: the message suggests joining your organization's network.
Why
If you connect through a gateway or a VPN, the error now points you toward the likely cause instead of leaving you to guess.
