Unclear It is not clear what the check does once it is turned on.
What
Environment variables are named values set outside Claude Code that change how it behaves. Several new ones apply when Claude Code runs as a remote session, where CLAUDE_CODE_REMOTE is set:
CLAUDE_CODE_REMOTE_STALL_CHECK_INTERVAL_MSsets how often a remote session checks whether it has stalled. Without it, a built-in default is used. Before, the interval was fixed.CLAUDE_CODE_CCR_SLOW_SKILLS_WATCH, together withCLAUDE_CODE_REMOTE, turns on a watch for slow skills in remote sessions.CLAUDE_CODE_PERSONAL_HOOKS_OFF,CLAUDE_CODE_PLAIN_DELTA_DIRECT_WRITEandCLAUDE_CODE_PLAIN_DELTA_TAKE_AT_SOURCEare new names added to the lists of variables passed on to remote sessions and child processes. What they do is not shown.- The check for passed-on names also matches
INCREMENTAL_REQUEST_BODY,PLAIN_DELTA_FAST_PATH,UNWATCHED_REPLY_HOLD_MSandCCR_ONE_PLUGIN_LOAD_PER_RELOAD. CLAUDE_CODE_LAZY_ENV_GETTERShas been removed from these lists and no longer appears anywhere in this build.
Why
If you run remote sessions, you can now tune how quickly a stalled session is noticed and opt into a slow-skills watch. If you set CLAUDE_CODE_LAZY_ENV_GETTERS, it no longer appears in this build.
