What
MCP servers are outside programs that give Claude extra tools. When you switch one off, Claude Code closes it. Claude Code now tells apart a close that timed out from one that failed, where before both were recorded as failed.
It also remembers which servers it switched off itself, so that a reconnect skips them.
Why
A server you switched off is no longer brought back by a reconnect while it is still closing.
