What
A locale is the language and region setting your system reports, usually through the LANG environment variable (a named value set in your shell). Claude Code reads it to work out your language. It now ignores a locale value that is longer than a fixed limit. Before, only these values were ignored:
an empty value
C
POSIX
Why
This protects Claude Code against malformed or garbage LANG values. If yours is ignored, Claude Code behaves as if no locale had been given.
