Unclear Only the setting's description changed, so it is not clear whether the actual default for showing Bash diffs changed too.
What
Claude Code has a setting for showing diffs (a view of what changed in a file) for edits made through the Bash tool, which runs shell commands. Its description in the settings has changed. It now says the default is off, except in these permission modes:
In those two modes the description says it is on when the Bash tool handles file edits, or when the model's configuration turns it on. The description used to say it was on by default whenever the Bash tool handles file edits.
Why
If you rely on seeing these diffs, the description suggests you may now need to turn the setting on yourself outside auto and bypassPermissions modes.
