What

In vim mode, Claude Code's input box keeps a register, a holding spot for text you yank (copy) or delete so you can paste it later. Before, every yank or delete wrote to the register, even a delete that removed no text. Now the register is only updated when there is text, or when the operation is not a delete. Yank and delete now follow separate paths.

Why

An empty delete no longer replaces what you had stored, so pasting gives you the text you expect.
