What
MCP servers are external tools Claude Code connects to, and some require you to sign in. Some programs that host Claude Code supply their own custom redirect address, the place your browser is sent back to after you sign in.
If the server's sign-in service offered no client registration when it was last checked, sign-in now goes through localhost (your own computer) instead of that custom redirect address. Claude Code also records when this skip happens.
This behaviour sits behind a feature gate named tengu_sharded_globe. Nothing has been read about that gate, so whether it is active in this release is unknown.
Why
If you use Claude Code inside a host that supplies its own redirect address, signing in to some MCP servers may now complete through localhost.
