Unclear It is not clear whether this reflects a new compaction fallback that leaves parts of an over-long prompt out, or only a change to what is recorded.
What
Compaction is how Claude Code shortens a conversation that has grown too long for the model, by summarising or trimming it. When a retry of this process gives up, the result it records now includes a count of leave-out passes, next to the count of times it cut text from the start of the prompt.
Why
This adds detail to what Claude Code records about compaction attempts that fail. It does not on its own change what you see in a session.
