What
Compaction shrinks a long conversation by summarizing it. Claude Code now notes the latest request at the moment compaction starts. When compaction finishes, it reuses the last reply only if that latest request is still the same one.
Why
If a newer request was sent while compaction was running, an outdated reply is no longer attached to the compacted conversation.
