What

Auto mode is a permission mode in which Claude Code decides for itself whether to allow an action. Several pieces of its wording changed:

  • The hint in the interface now says "for auto mode" instead of "for the auto mode classifier".
  • The settings text for custom rules now reads "Extra rules for auto mode. Rules are plain sentences; new rules are saved to your user settings."
  • The label in the conversation record now reads "Allowed by auto mode" instead of "Allowed by auto mode classifier".
  • When a list of paths is too long to show, the message to Claude now says "too many to list here, so leave the decision to the user". It used to say only that your permission prompt shows the full list.
Why

When there are too many paths to list, the new wording steers Claude away from deciding on its own, so the choice stays with you.
