What
Claude Code can route git through a local proxy and tells git how to get credentials for it with a credential helper (a small program git asks for a username and password). The git setting that points to this helper is now keyed on http://127.0.0.1:<port> instead of http://localhost:<port>.
Why
Git picks a credential helper by matching the exact address it is connecting to. The setting has to use the same address as the proxy, or git will not use the helper and the credentials are not found.
