What
A subagent is a separate helper that Claude can start to work on part of a task. Claude Code includes guidance in its instructions about when to start one. That guidance is now picked from a fixed set of modes: none, fork, fork-background, with-nudge and plain. The text of the guidance has not changed.
Why
This is an internal rework. The wording Claude sees is the same.
