Unclear It is not known when Claude Code assumes UTC, so it is unclear which users see the new wording.
What
Claude Code tells Claude today's date. It used to say "Today's date is" followed by the date. When it is assuming UTC (a standard world time), it now says the UTC date instead and adds that your local date can differ. It also tells Claude that a date given in a reminder without UTC should be read as your local date.
Why
Claude is less likely to treat the UTC date as your local day, which can be off by one around midnight.
