An artifact is a page Claude Code publishes from a file. A skill is a set of instructions Claude can load. Changed instructions in Claude Code tell Claude to load the artifact skill before it writes the file, because that skill describes what the page must contain. This applies even when another skill told Claude to write a .md file. Claude then writes the content with its Write or Edit tool and calls the Artifact tool with the file's path. If a scratchpad directory is listed, the file goes there. A scratchpad directory is a temporary folder for working files.
The change shapes how Claude prepares artifacts. Loading the skill first should help the published page match what the artifact format expects.
