What
OpenTelemetry is a standard way of exporting usage data from Claude Code to your own monitoring tools. Claude Code now skips building these events when no event logger is set up and nothing is listening for them.
Setting the environment variable CLAUDE_CODE_DISABLE_OTEL_EVENT_SKIP turns this skipping off, so events are always built as before.
Why
This saves work that would be thrown away, and the environment variable gives you a way back if the skipping causes problems.
