What
Background jobs save their progress in a file called state.json. When Claude Code reads one and finds it is not in the expected shape, it rejects the file. It now sends a usage report the first time that happens for a file. Before, it only wrote a line to its log.
Why
Anthropic can now measure how often these job-state files turn out to be damaged or in an incompatible format.
