What
MCP servers are add-on programs that give Claude extra tools. When Claude searches for a tool, Claude Code now first looks for MCP servers that have failed and whose names appear in the search. It tries to reconnect them, waits a limited time, and then runs the search. This applies when Claude Code is running without its interactive screen. Previously the search went ahead without reconnecting failed servers.
Why
If an MCP server has just dropped, a search that names it is more likely to find its tools instead of coming back empty.
