What
The Bash tool is how Claude runs shell commands, and Claude reads a description of it that explains how it behaves. In this version that description changed how it describes cd, the command that changes the current directory.
It used to say the working directory persists between commands. It now says a cd carries to the next call only in the main session (the conversation you are directly working in), and only when:
the command succeeds
it ends inside the working directories
If it ends outside them, the shell does not stay there.
Why
Claude is now told not to rely on a cd carrying over outside the main session, after a failed command, or into a folder outside the working directories.
