When Claude Code runs headless (without its interactive screen, usually driven by a script), its output follows a published structure. The description of one timing field in that structure now covers more kinds of turns (a turn is one exchange of request and reply):
- turns that were stopped
- turns that ended on a deferred tool
- turns that ended with an error subtype
It also says that a worker Anthropic hosts, with telemetry (usage reporting) on, sends the value on results marked is_error too. Before, the description said turns that were stopped or failed after sending were counted but carried no value.
If you read this field from headless output, the description now says which kinds of turns carry it, including Anthropic-hosted workers reporting it on error results.
