Unclear What holding a fork actually does for a session is not stated.
Claude Code reads a new setting that Anthropic's servers can send. It decides whether a session "holds a fork". A session is one running conversation with Claude Code. The setting can name:
- Model families: a session using one of them holds the fork.
- SDK hosts: programs that run Claude Code through its software development kit can be included as a group.
- A "cold after" time in seconds, defaulting to 270 and capped at 3600. Claude Code compares the time of the last response against it.
When the server sends nothing, the model family list is empty and SDK hosts are left out, so no session holds a fork.
In practice nothing changes until the server supplies a value. The setting only describes which sessions qualify and for how long.

This account: no value returned · anonymous baseline: no value returned · compiled default in v2.1.311: not a boolean we can read
These values were read against a different version of Claude Code, so treat them as the nearest reading available instead of one taken on this release.
Read once, for one account on one subscription tier, against v2.1.311. It isn't a statement about your account. What a flag value here can and cannot tell you
A reading is one sample. Claude Code evaluates its flags remotely, so no client sees the targeting rule behind a value and this says nothing about your account.
