What

While Claude is working, Claude Code shows short tips next to its progress indicator. There is now a tip that points you to /config, where you can choose an output style. An output style is a setting that changes how Claude writes its replies, for example explaining more as it works.

The tip follows these rules:

  • It appears only after you have asked Claude for explanations several times.
  • It is shown at most 3 times in total.
  • After it appears, it waits at least 15 sessions before it can appear again. A session is one run of Claude Code.
  • It is not shown if an output style is already set in your local settings, through a command-line flag, or by an organisation policy.
Why

If you often ask Claude to explain what it is doing, this tip tells you there is a setting that can do that by default.

The entry above is what we published on the day. These lines were added later, as Anthropic's own pages caught up, and they sit beside the original rather than replacing it.

Confirmed since Anthropic's documentation has since written up /config, on Error reference. * Run `/config` in the lead session and set **Teammate mode** to `in-process`, then ask Claude to start the teammate again. You don't need to find the rule or restart the lead. An in-process teammate [runs under the lead's live deny rules]… errors see the edit
