What
MCP servers are outside programs that give Claude Code extra tools. Each server has a scope, meaning where it was configured. When Claude Code starts a server, its setup now includes a marker saying whether the server came from an organization. The marker is true when the server has a scope and that scope is one Claude Code treats as organization-provided.
Why
This lets Claude Code tell servers provided by an organization apart from others. No difference in how such servers are treated is described yet.
