What
Claude Code compares files against content it saved earlier. That check now has two more results:
- "other" when the path is not an ordinary file, for example a folder
- "unknown" when looking at the file fails unexpectedly, with a log line beginning "could not look at"
Before, these cases were reported as the file being absent or changed.
Why
The check is more accurate, which may change when Claude Code skips an edit or a restore.
