Unclear It is not clear which background requests now fail fast and which keep retrying.

What

When a request to the model's API fails, Claude Code can retry it. For background requests (ones not tied to what you are typing right now), the rule for giving up quickly instead of retrying has changed. It used to depend on whether the request was marked as persistent. It now depends on a different check.

Why

This may change how often background requests are retried after an error.
