Unclear It is not known whether the remote switch for this is on for anyone.
What
Connectors from claude.ai sign in to outside services so Claude can use their tools. In remote sessions, when a connector's sign-in has stopped working, Claude Code used to drop that connector's tools. It now adds a stand-in tool named ' - authenticate (MCP)' instead.
Claude Code spots the expired sign-in when the service turns down its token.
The stand-in tool retries the connection.
It tells Claude to ask you to sign in again.
Claude can call it only once per turn.
Claude is told that the connector is installed but its sign-in has stopped working, so its tools are unavailable. This sits behind a remote switch that is off unless switched on remotely.
Why
Claude can now notice an expired connector sign-in and ask you to fix it, instead of the connector's tools silently disappearing.
