In remote sessions, when a connector's sign-in has stopped working, Claude Code used to drop that connector's tools. It now adds a stand-in tool named ' - authenticate (MCP)' instead.\n\n- Claude Code spots the expired sign-in when the service turns down its token.\n\n- The stand-in tool retries the connection.\n\n- It tells Claude to ask you to sign in again.\n\n- Claude can call it only once per turn.\n\nClaude is told that the connector is installed but its sign-in has stopped working, so its tools are unavailable. This sits behind a remote switch that is off unless switched on remotely.\n\n**Why**\n\nClaude can now notice an expired connector sign-in and ask you to fix it, instead of the connector's tools silently disappearing.\n\n- Area: Connectors\n- Tier: You'll notice\n- Useful: 3\/5\n- Signal: 2\/5\n- Scope: individual\n- Heads-up: no"}
