What
Tool search is how Claude finds and loads tools that are held back until they are needed. Claude Code can remind the model to use it. Previously that reminder was skipped only when the tool search tool was missing from the available tools. It is now also skipped in a second case, which depends on the model in use and on the beta features the session has turned on.
Why
In practice the model gets this reminder less often, and only in situations where tool search can actually be used.
