What
A session is one run of Claude Code. Two new error paths apply to sessions that have no local disk:
Reading a transcript that is stored only under a storage key, with no file on disk, now fails unless a storage backend is provided.
Writing a message to a teammate's mailbox (how agents working together pass messages) logs an error and writes nothing unless the message can go to a store.
Both depend on a switch that is off unless it is turned on remotely. In readings taken before this release, it was off for this site's account and for an anonymous check.
Why
This prepares for sessions that keep their data in a remote store instead of on disk.

Feature flag
tengu_hover_restOff in both readings
The flag server returned off for the account this site reads and for the anonymous baseline. A reading of off cannot rule out a rollout these two readings sit outside of.
This account: off · anonymous baseline: off · compiled default in v2.1.301: off
These values were read against a different version of Claude Code, so treat them as the nearest reading available instead of one taken on this release.
