Diskless mode no longer uses the model-capabilities cache or Anthropic config folder

When Claude Code runs without disk access, it now skips its saved model-capabilities file and does not look for an Anthropic config folder

Claude Code has a diskless mode, used when it is embedded somewhere that should not read or write files. In that mode it now skips two things that used to run anyway:

  • The saved file of model capabilities is neither read nor written.
  • It no longer looks for an Anthropic config folder through ANTHROPIC_CONFIG_DIR, XDG_CONFIG_HOME or ~/.config/anthropic.

Diskless mode now reads and writes fewer files on disk.
