What
Claude Code can sign in through workload identity federation, which lets it use credentials issued by another identity system instead of a stored key. It keeps a cache of the tokens (short-lived sign-in credentials) that this process produces.
The debug message about that cache now names two cases in which the cache is turned off:
- There is no config directory.
- The session is diskless.
Why
If you use workload identity federation and see this message in debug output during a diskless session, it means Claude Code is not reusing a cached token.
