Unclear It is not clear what makes a session count as full or what the message says.

What

Resuming means picking up an earlier conversation with Claude Code where you left off. Claude Code now has a separate outcome for a session that is full. In that case the resume does not go ahead, and Claude Code shows a message explaining why.

Why

You get an explicit failure instead of a resume that quietly goes ahead on a session that cannot hold more.
