Unclear It is not clear which mode or condition causes these home folder lookups to be skipped.
What
When a certain condition holds, Claude Code now skips lookups in your home folder that it used to always make. This affects:
- finding your personal skills and agents
- reading policy settings
- matching skill paths
- rules about linked copies of files
- the shortcuts that let Claude Code read your user-level files without asking
- the rule that allows reading the project's temporary folder
In the same case, any request to write a file is answered straight away with "you haven't granted it yet", so it needs your approval.
Why
This probably makes runs without a local disk, or runs on a remote machine, safer, with the result that file writes there always need approval.
