Claude Code keeps a list of file extensions that it treats as binary, meaning files that are not readable text. These extensions were added to that list:

  • .parquet
  • .feather
  • .npy
  • .npz
  • .pickle
Why

These common data-science file formats are no longer read as if they were text.
