The instructions Claude gets for AskUserQuestion, the tool it uses to ask you a question with choices, can now be picked from four versions instead of one per tool set. A rewritten pair is used only when a shortened-instructions mode is on and a model check also agrees. The instructions about keeping Claude's memory tidy can also switch to a rewritten form.
The two remotely controlled pieces of extra text for these instructions add nothing when Claude Code's server sends no value. The instructions Claude was seen receiving did not change, and the captured AskUserQuestion description in this release is the same length as in the previous capture.
This is preparation for a rewritten set of instructions. It could change how Claude asks questions and handles memory once the rewritten versions are selected for a model.
