In the Claude desktop app and on claude.ai, Claude Code can answer a request that needs a browser with a fixed message telling you to set one up, instead of passing on the "Browser extension is not connected" error. That reply is now controlled by a remote switch called tengu_memoized_owl, which replaces the one used before. When the server sends no value, the switch falls back to off, as the old one did. When this site last checked, the flag server returned off for this site's account and for an anonymous one, though no reading has been taken under this release yet.
The reply also still needs all of these:
- You are using the desktop app or claude.ai.
- The app has not saved a device ID for its browser link.
- No browser tool is connected.
Because the switch has a new name, anyone who had the old one turned on starts again from off until the new one is turned on for them.
tengu_memoized_owl Off in both readingsThe flag server returned off for the account this site reads and for the anonymous baseline. A reading of off cannot rule out a rollout these two readings sit outside of.
This account: off · anonymous baseline: off · compiled default in v2.1.301: off
These values were read against a different version of Claude Code, so treat them as the nearest reading available instead of one taken on this release.
tengu_fizzy_minsky Not enough to sayNothing here resolved what this flag was doing on this version, so nothing here should be read as on or off.
This account: no value returned · anonymous baseline: no value returned · compiled default in v2.1.301: not a boolean we can read
These values were read against a different version of Claude Code, so treat them as the nearest reading available instead of one taken on this release.
Read once, for one account on one subscription tier, against v2.1.301. It isn't a statement about your account. What a flag value here can and cannot tell you
