What

Staged files are files copied into a cloud session ahead of time. When some of them fail to land where they should, Claude Code logs a warning and records a count. Two new counts are now included:

  • no_space: files that could not be placed because there was no room
  • name_too_long: files that could not be placed because their name was too long

The separate note telling the model that files may be missing still depends on a server-side switch. That switch is off unless it is turned on remotely. The flag server has returned off for this site's account and for an anonymous check.

Why

The warning now shows the reason files went missing in cloud sessions, not just how many. A full disk and a too-long file name can be told apart.

tengu_ochre_dunlin Off in both readings

The flag server returned off for the account this site reads and for the anonymous baseline. A reading of off cannot rule out a rollout these two readings sit outside of.

This account: off · anonymous baseline: off · compiled default in v2.1.300: off

These values were read against a different version of Claude Code, so treat them as the nearest reading available instead of one taken on this release.
