When a request sent through a gateway (a service that sits between Claude Code and the model) fails, Claude Code can retry it on the default model. The check that decides this was rewritten as a separate shared step. Before, it retried on errors with status 400, 403 or 404, unless the error was marked as one that resending could not fix. The other conditions for the retry are unchanged.
