What
When a request fails, Claude Code decides whether to try it again. It normally retries when the server reports it is busy (status 429) or has an error of its own (status 500 and above). Claude Code now refuses to retry one particular kind of error before it looks at the status at all.
Why
This can cut down on retries that were never going to succeed.
