What
Each result from the WebSearch tool used to have only a title and a URL. It can now also carry an optional snippet of text from the page.
Hooks are your own commands that Claude Code runs at set moments. A PostToolUse hook runs after a tool call succeeds, and those hooks receive the snippet. The tool result that goes back into the conversation does not include it.
Why
If you write hooks, you can now look at page text from search results, not just titles and links. The field is optional, so a hook should handle results that have no snippet.
