Unclear The two conditions that must hold before CLAUDE_CODE_USER_EMAIL is used are not described.

What

Claude Code can tell the model your email address as part of the background information it sends. Before, it only used the email of the account you are logged in with.

When no logged-in email is available, Claude Code can now use the value of the CLAUDE_CODE_USER_EMAIL environment variable instead. An environment variable is a named value you set in your shell or system before starting a program. This fallback applies only when two further internal conditions are met. As before, no email is sent when ANTHROPIC_UNIX_SOCKET is set.

Why

This lets managed setups and setups without a logged-in account, such as automated servers, still give the model an email address.
