Unclear It is not clear which plugins count as account-managed, so it is unclear which plugins read manifest.json.

What

Skills are packaged instructions that a plugin, an add-on for Claude Code, can provide. For plugins managed through an account, Claude Code now reads a manifest.json file at the plugin's root folder before loading the plugin's skills. That file lists skills, each marked as switched on or off.

  • A skill folder marked as switched off is skipped.
  • A skill folder that is not listed is also skipped when there is a switched-off entry that does not name a folder.
  • If manifest.json cannot be read, is malformed or is too large, the plugin loads no skills at all.

Before, every skill folder was loaded.

Why

Account-managed plugins can now hide individual skills. A broken manifest.json removes every skill from that plugin, so check that file first if a plugin's skills go missing.
