A new setting, inferenceGatewayManagedClaudeCode, is off by default. When it is turned on, Claude Desktop runs Claude Code in gateway mode, the same mode set by CLAUDE_CODE_USE_GATEWAY. This applies to users who signed in through the gateway's own sign-in. A gateway here is a service an organisation puts between its users and the model.
In gateway mode, Claude Code turns off usage analytics and makes no signed-in calls to Anthropic.
Why
This gives organisations that use a gateway one switch that keeps Claude Code launched from Desktop from sending usage data or signed-in requests to Anthropic.
