What

The bundled config schema for Claude Desktop third-party deployments has new admin settings. A schema is the list of settings a config file may contain. These apply to the desktop app, not the command-line Claude Code.

  • builtinBrowser: builtinBrowserEnabled (off by default), builtinBrowserDefaultDomainPolicy (allow or block), builtinBrowserAllowedDomains and builtinBrowserBlockedDomains.
  • sessionRetention: chatSessionRetentionDays, coworkSessionRetentionDays, codeSessionRetentionDays and sessionRetentionHold.
  • Plugin MCP tool policy now covers any installed plugin.

Why

Admins can turn on the desktop app's built-in browser and limit which sites it reaches. They can also set how many days chat, cowork and code sessions are kept, or put a hold on deletion.
