What
Claude in Chrome lets Claude work in your browser, including uploading files from your computer. It now refuses to upload:
files or folders with credential names, such as .env, .pem, .key and .ssh
Claude Code's own credentials
system kernel or device paths
paths that are too long
These checks run before the normal checks on whether Claude may read the file. When an upload is refused, Claude is told to let you know nothing was uploaded. Files attached in the chat are exempt.
Why
Claude cannot send secrets such as keys or passwords to a website through the browser, even when permission prompts are turned off with bypassPermissions.
