A background task is a job that keeps running while Claude carries on with other work. Claude Code now has a message telling Claude that such a task's result reaches it only if the task finishes while Claude is still working. The task is stopped when Claude gives its final response, and nothing can follow that.
The setting that controls this note is on unless it is switched off remotely.
Claude should not finish its answer expecting a background task to report back later, because the task is stopped at that point.
