In headless sessions, which run with no interactive screen, Claude Code now restores your choice to opt into proactive behaviour after the background worker restarts. It also reports this internally, along with a startup report about proactivity. When CLAUDE_CODE_DISABLE_ATTACHMENTS is set, or Claude Code runs with --bare, the proactivity selector reads as off. It can also be turned off with CLAUDE_CODE_DISABLE_PROACTIVITY, or remotely through the server flag tengu_proactivity_selector, which is on when the server sends nothing.
Why
Turning proactive mode on is no longer lost when the worker running the session starts over.
