What
A background agent is a helper that keeps working while you do other things. Claude Code now has a separate stop reason for when the program serving the agent could not check whether it still serves this session. The existing reason for when serving ended is reworded to say the program "quit serving".
Why
A failed check is now reported apart from a normal end, so the message says more precisely why the agent stopped.
